World economy headed for another crash: US guru
Mon, Jun 22, 2009
Reuters

MELBOURNE, June 22, 2009 (AFP) - The world economy will face a crisis in the next two years even bigger than the downturn currently buffeting the global financial system, a respected US forecaster warned Monday.

Author Harry S. Dent, who predicted Japan's slide into recession in the 1990s and the present slump, dismissed claims the worst was over for the world economy and that"green shoots" were emerging from the fiscal firestorm.

Dent said the baby-boomer generation was set to cut back on spending, sending the share and property markets into downward spirals that would dwarf the recent recovery.

"We're in the middle of a bear market rally," Dent told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

He said share markets were likely to continue to gain in the next few months but would fall again towards the end of the year as the global banking system suffered another meltdown, bottoming out in 2011.

Dent said post-war baby boomers in the Western world were spending less as they aged, in a long-term demographic shift similar to that seen by Japan in the 1990s.

"Peak spending is age 46, so we've been saying for decades, we're going to have this great, great boom and then around the end of this decade baby boomers are going to peak in spending, prepare for retirement," he said.

"(Their) kids are going to leave the nest and the economy's going to slow just like Japan did in the 1990s.

"Japan has already gone through a housing bubble and a peak in generation spending ... their stock market declined for years, housing declined 60 percent, and all the government stimulus could not put Humpty Dumpty together again - that's what we're looking at."

Dent said Australia's proximity to Asia, the world economy's growth hotspot, meant it was likely to experience a less severe downturn than other Western nations.

"If I had to sit out the depression in one place in the Western world, it would be Australia," he said.

"Your demographic slide is less, your immigration's been stronger and you're on the edge of China and India - they're not turning down due to baby boomer demographics, they've got much growth ahead."

ART OF SUCCESS ( THE HOKKIEN WAY)

Picture paints a thousand words....

Several years ago, I had a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer He gave me a photocopied copy of an article entitled,`Asparagus for cancer' printed in Cancer News Journal,December 1979.

I will share it here, just as it was shared with me:

'I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health for over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked with him on his project. We have accumulated a number of favourable case histories.

Here are a few examples:

Case No. 1,

A man with an almost hopeless case of Hodgkin's disease (cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated. Within 1 year of starting the asparagus therapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a schedule of strenuous exercise.

Case No. 2,

A successful businessman 68 years old who suffered from cancer of the bladder for 16 years. After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he went on asparagus. Within 3 months, examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and that his kidneys were normal.

Case No. 3,

A man had lung cancer. On March 5th 1971, he was put on the operating table where they found lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable. The surgeon sewed him up and declared his case hopeless. On April 5th he heard about the asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it. By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared. He is back at his regular business routine.

Case No. 4,

A woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin cancer. She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by asking specialist as advanced. Within 3 months after starting on asparagus, her skin specialist said that her skin looked fine and no more skin lesions. This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney disease, which started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus..

I was not surprised at this result, as `The elements of Materia Medica', edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones.

We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy.

For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore canned asparagus is just as good as fresh. have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives.

PROCEDURE:

1) Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree, and store in the refrigerator.

2) Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening.

Patients usually show some improvement in from 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink.. This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases.

As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent'. Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals. We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold. For years we have made it a practice to have blood surveys taken as part of our regular checkups. The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink.......

As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer. Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and inacting as a general body tonic.

In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance.

The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good.. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body's most potent anti carcinogens and antioxidants.

Please spread the news.......the most unselfish act one can ever do is paying forward all the kindness one has received even to the most undeserved person !

.......... HAVE A BEAUTIFUL N PLEASANT DAY .............

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Received this beautiful piece from my Girl n sharing with all of u.

HAVE A NICE N BEAUTIFUL DAY ...

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet.
He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.'
There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by.
He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat.
He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words.
He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up.
A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were.
The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this morning?
What did you write?'

The man said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'
What he had written was: 'Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.'

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind.
But the first sign simply said the boy was blind.
The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind.
Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

Invite others towards good with wisdom.
Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets.
When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.
Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.
Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

Great men say, 'Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness.... In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience.'

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling...
And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

LETS DO HOUSEKEEPING

Useful tips on housekeeping.

Ingredients used are the normal basic items found in any normal household kitchen.

They are:

1. VINEGAR (WHITE)

# A little vinegar added to the rinse water removes water spots in your glasses and makes them sparkle.

# Having friends over and they smoke? Fill some party bowls with vinegar and it gets rid of the cigarette smoke. You can make the bowls look pretty by adding some coloured stones in them.

# To remove waterline marks, pour two cups of white vinegar in the toilet bowl and leave it overnight.

# Coffee stains in your cup or thermos bottle? Mix a quarter vinegar to three-quarters warm water, cover and shake to clean.

# To add sparkle to clean windows or mirrors, mix a cup of vinegar to a litre of water.

Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray liberally over the window or mirror. Dry with crumpled newspapers for a streak-free window or mirror.

# Use a damp sponge soaked in white vinegar to wash the shower screen, then rinse. It removes all the soap scum and gives the screens a great shine.

2. SALT

# A dash of salt adds flavour to your coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

# Wipe greasy pans or pots with a paper towel and salt before washing.

# If you drop a whole egg on the floor, pour salt all over the egg, let it sit for awhile, then use a dustpan. The egg comes right up without the mess.

# Remove coffee stains from aluminium coffee pots or porcelain coffee cups by rubbing a little salt on the stain.

# Soak toothbrushes in salt water before using them - they last longer.

# To heal the ulcer in your mouth, gargle some mildly salted water. Works great as a mouthwash too. (Do not do this if you suffer from high blood pressure.)

# Dab salt on wine-stained fabric and leave for about 30 minutes before rinsing it in cold water.

# Clean your greens in salt water to remove dirt residual easily.

# Pour salt, followed by scalding hot water, down your kitchen drains every week to keep drains fresh and unclogged.

# Use salt and lemon juice to remove mildew from your home.

# To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag and add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt and leave your artificial flowers looking like new.

3. BAKING SODA (BICARBONATE OF SODA)

# Too stressed or exhausted? Add a cup of baking soda to your bath. It'll help to calm you down and soothe your nerves.

# Run out of toothpaste? Moisten your toothbrush and put baking powder on it to clean your teeth and freshen your breath.

# Use a cloth placed in warm water and several tablespoons of baking powder for the final round of your kitchen cleaning. Everything will smell fresher.

# Baking soda is a good deodoriser. If your carpet smells stale, sprinkle baking soda all over and leave for about 30 minutes before vacuuming.

# Put baking soda in a salt shaker and keep near your shoes. Before putting the shoes away, freshen them by sprinkling baking soda in them. This is especially effective for sneakers and running shoes.
