Climatecrisis.org

aninconvenienttruth

Over the weekend, we watched the DVD by Mr Al Gore of the above titled. Before watching the show, I never understood how this simple "GLOBAL WARMING" issue affects us.

During the show, it's said that due to Global Warming polar bear researchers actually found drowned polar bears! Because the world is getting so warm that icebergs/glaciers are melting, land-based ice becomes thinner. Ice layers eventually break away into the water. Polar bears now do not have a ground to rest, they'll keep swimming, exhausted and drown. Animals can go from endangered to extinction, due to drastic climatic changes. With this climatic changes, flood-prone areas get submerged underwater; drier regions will suffer even more sever heat wave. Recent hurricanes, typhoons, drought, heat-wave are the evidence for this crazy climate.

I loved animals since I was a little girl. I had a landscape poster pasted on the main door that pictured the world's map and the animals which can be found in the different continent. One day, I still wish I would get to go and see the animals in their environment compared to them coming to us in cages. I want to see Emperor Penguins in the Antarctic, Polar bears in the Artic, Lions & Giraffe in Savannah Africa, Tigers prowling within Jungles in Asia. However, this day may never come because we have taken our planet for granted and things are changing too quickly for living things, including us, to adapt to their natural environment. Animals, maybe even human race, may be forced out.

I've said too much. It's actions. It's not easy but we can make it work by doing our small bit. Simple things like changing to energy-saving light bulbs; watering plants with watering-cans not hose; washing cars with pails of water instead of hose-spray; reduce usage of air-conditioning & heater; cut-down on hot water usage; avoid plastic bags, if so reuse them; catch a bus, take a walk, reduce carbon emission; so on & so forth...

Check out the film or website for more educational material. Let's save Earth, a place for us to continue living in. And let our children's children see this real life:
